TOXIC EMPLOYEES TO THE EXTENT THAT THEY ARE A THREAT TO ORGANIZATIONS

Nowadays organizations are betting on having a highly efficient and emotionally stable staff, that is to say that they can have their emotions under control, in such a way that they do not become toxic employees, in this sense the universities should aspire to the same, being in charge of developing the individuals that in the future will take the reins of society, they should have a teaching staff that does not present toxic characteristics in their behavior, that is why the present investigation had as objective to identify some of the most common characteristics that toxic employees of the universities present. The research was developed under a quantitative approach, with a scope of descriptive analysis, with a non-experimental design, for which the population was determined as the teachers of two public universities of the Costa Oriental del Lago, the sample was made up of 80 teachers. For data collection, a Likert style instrument was constructed, the statistical treatment was carried out through the descriptive statistical method, averages and standard deviation, the results allowed to identify that teachers present several characteristics of toxic employees such as negativity, mood swings, pride, critical, seeking approval, in conclusion, universities should be able to identify their toxic teachers in order to ensure the achievement of their objectives and the creation of harmonious and collaborative work environments.
