This article explores the scientific production related
with the Sustainable Development Goals 11 (SDG 11):
Cities and Sustainable Communities, highlighting the
importance of the psychosocial transformations and
of necessary governance to reach these objectives.
Through a focus of documental review, the emergent
tendencies are analyzed in the investigation it has
more than enough urban sustainability, including the
necessity of a cultural change toward the sustainability
and the adoption of models of governance more
participatory and inclusive. The study underlines
that, beyond the technological innovations and
the public politicians, the success of the transition
toward sustainable cities depends on the integration
of cooperation values, justness and responsibility
in the society, as well as of the implementation of
governance mechanisms that its involve all the actors
actively in the process of taking of decisions. This
article provides an integral vision of the challenges
and opportunities in the creation of sustainable cities,
standing out the necessity of holistic focuses and
colaborative to comply with SDG 11.
