This study analyzes entrepreneurship as an element
for the social reinsertion of the deprived of liberty
in Colombia, specifically in the penitentiary center
of Aguachica, Cesar; where it is emphasized to
point out the situation that Colombian prisons are
going through today, especially that of Aguachica,
Cesar, where there are around 200 inmates, who are
overcrowded and idle, therefore we worked with a
sample for finite populations of 101 inmates, but
according to information from the Director of the
facility, only eight inmates are the ones who exclusively
carry out productive work or entrepreneurship within
the penitentiary establishment. Methodologically, it
was a research under a qualitative approach, with
an interpretive paradigm and ethnographic method.
The results of this study confirmed that it is through
productive work -in its figure of entrepreneurship-, that
an effective and little traumatic social reintegration
of the prisoner into society is achieved. Therefore,
it is concluded that it is essential to encourage those
deprived of liberty to execute undertakings, which will
support them and their families, during and after their
reintegration into society; and that through formal
education or training that they can receive, it will pave
the way for them not to reoffend in criminal activities.
