The objective of this research is to analyze the impact of the dollar exchange rate on foreign trade in the footwear industry in Cúcuta, through a survey of Cúcuta footwear companies. Qualitative methods were used to establish the advantages and disadvantages that the dollar exchange rate generates for foreign trade activity in the region. The results identified that Cúcuta footwear companies register a higher level of export activity, but a large percentage of their products are not manufactured with domestic inputs, which has negatively impacted their production costs due to the dollar's appreciation.
