Causes and consequences of the abandonment of the Free Trade Zone in the city of Cúcuta

Abstract

This research aims to know the circumstances in which it is currently Zona Franca Cúcuta, generating expectation about the restructuring and upgrading of facilities, domestic and foreign investors, identifying consequences of neglecting the Free Zone. The collection of information is done through an online survey for users of the free zone and a technical visit to review the facilities. Through analysis of information obtained with instruments of applied research shows that 62% of respondents believe that as a result of the ZF Deterior increase in unemployment in the city, 25% believe that exports will suffer a significant decrease and 12.5% obtained different opinions regarding the closure of the Zona Franca; In conclusion, the abandonment of the Franco regime leads to economic chaos that does not allow the city to reap the benefits and opportunities that grants, improve the competitiveness of the region.
