Abstract

This study was conducted to highlight the lack of innovation among graphic designers in the city of Cúcuta. Information was gathered to provide a clear understanding of the study within its context. Therefore, the shortcomings and creativity deficits in the development and consolidation of new ideas to innovate the graphic design sector in Cúcuta were analyzed. From a theoretical perspective, a brief overview of design was presented, leading to reflection on the role of the designer. This role is based on human participation and actions that influence society and is oriented towards seeking and leveraging opportunities, rather than simply accepting existing resources. Thus, it is essential for graphic designers to understand that design is not just art, a simple drawing, an emotional outburst, or mere decoration; it is the application of countless skills, techniques, and intuition, all geared towards a purpose that compels them to challenge the status quo and differentiate their offerings.
