Abstract

Healthy habits are an essential tool for achieving and maintaining a full, whole life free of illness. Nowadays, people tend to be more sedentary, eating unbalanced diets, having very high stress levels and very little physical activity. These habits also go hand in hand with mental and emotional health, causing a positive impact on people's quality of life.

A healthy lifestyle is based on several essential aspects, including a balanced diet, regular physical exercise, adequate rest and effective stress management. Each of these components acts as a pillar that supports general well-being, preventing diseases and promoting optimal functioning of both the body and the mind. For example, a nutrient-rich diet strengthens the immune system, while physical exercise improves blood circulation, helps control weight and stimulates the production of endorphins, known as "happiness hormones".

In addition, adopting healthy habits can help prevent chronic diseases such as obesity, diabetes and cardiovascular problems. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), these non-communicable diseases account for more than 70% of deaths worldwide. What is more worrying is that many are related to everyday decisions, such as excessive consumption of processed foods, lack of physical activity and inadequate stress management. Therefore, making simple lifestyle changes can have a significant impact on overall health.

This essay explores the relevance of adopting and maintaining healthy habits as an effective strategy to prevent diseases and improve quality of life. It is supported by scientific research, by the World Health Organization (WHO) and opinions of public health experts, who underline the need to promote these practices from an early age and throughout life. By examining the concrete benefits of a balanced diet, regular physical activity, adequate rest and emotional management, it seeks to inspire a cultural change towards the promotion of comprehensive well-being.
