The objective of this article is to empirically determine the innovative performance in the Colombian coffee sector, especially in terms of product innovation capacity. In this sense, information was collected from the Survey of Development and Technological Innovation (EDIT) for the year 2019-2020, in which a total of 7,762 companies were investigated, of which 53 companies have their economic activity classified in coffee production. The results of this research evidenced a low level of innovation of the companies in the sector in the creation of new goods or services or the improvement of these, however, the trend of innovation is oriented to technological innovation in processes or methods of production of new or improved goods. Finally, empirical mention is made of the innovation of products associated with coffee washing and relevant aspects in the field of branding.
