Abstract

The objective of this research is to study the relationship between basic movement patterns and literacy learning. The sample consists of 30 second-year primary school pupils from the Colegio Oficial Inem José Eusebio Caro, located in the city of Cúcuta, whose ages range from 7 to 8 years old. Based on the results obtained, a degree of association was found between literacy and basic motor patterns (BMPs), understanding that statistically each of the BMPs in the EVAM test shows a relationship with reading and writing performance as assessed by the TALE test. It was concluded that if an individual does not adequately acquire motor skills, this may have an impact on their ability to adequately express reading and writing skills, as a statistical relationship between literacy performance and motor development in the individual was evident.
