The study explores the academic production on managerial competencies through a bibliometric analysis based on Scopus data, covering the period from 2019 to 2024. The methodology adopts a mixed-methods approach (quantitative bibliometric analysis and critical hermeneutics), which included a systematic literature search using terms such as “managerial competencies” and “management skills,” resulting in the collection of 4,310 documents for analysis. Tools such as VOSviewer were employed to map co-citations, co-authorship, and keyword co-occurrence, enabling the identification of trends, influential authors, and emerging themes. The results reveal a concentration of scientific production in countries of the Global North, with the United States leading in both publications and citations. This study critiques the coloniality of knowledge, highlighting how hegemonic structures in scientific production perpetuate inequalities by marginalizing research from the Global South. The research underscores the need to address managerial competencies from more diverse and context-sensitive perspectives, particularly in Latin America.
