Abstract

This paper presents the design and simulation of a cascade boost quadratic converter, with a single active switch; and whose output voltage is controlled by average current mode, for a nominal output power of 200W and a voltage of 180Vdc. The main application of this converter is the regulation of the output voltage with loads that require high levels of continuous voltage, and that due to their characteristics require an N number of stages with the highest voltage gain and nominal power. The simulation results of the different configurations of the converter with linear and non-linear loads that present voltage harmonics were obtained with the Matlab/Simulink tool. For the voltage regulator, a classical PI controller has been proposed, which achieves a good performance as a regulator. Finally, the operation of the quadratic boost converter is analyzed using multiple power levels and adjustable output voltages.
