School bullying: a bibliometric analysis

This article presents a bibliometric analysis, with the aim of analyzing data on the historical development of research on bullying, for this purpose, the scopus database was used during the period 2000 to 2021, obtaining 1348 scientific articles. For the development of this study, descriptive research with a quantitative and qualitative approach was used, since the number of publications was quantified, and the most important publications were qualitatively analyzed according to the citation index. The results provided metrics on the historical development of research on this topic of study, in addition, the authors, thematic areas, institutions, countries, journals and most important keywords of the documents consulted were analyzed, and a documentary analysis of the most relevant articles was also carried out, determining that bullying generates psychological and health diseases in students and teachers of all educational levels, where the female gender is the most affected, and it occurs more frequently in primary and secondary schools. It is concluded that research on school bullying in recent years has increased considerably, because there is concern about the increase of this social problem, therefore, strategies associated with the ethical and regulatory environment of the institutions and the support of parents are required to mitigate and prevent bullying.
