This study sought to analyze the undertaking for the social reintegration of prisoners in Colombia, specifically in the Aguachica penitentiary center, Cesar; where it was emphasized to point out the situation that Colombian prisons are going through today, especially that of Aguachica, Cesar. The population universe is 200 inmates, who are overcrowded and at leisure. Inclusion and exclusion criteria were applied in the selection of the sample, therefore we worked with eight (8) inmates who are those who exclusively carry out productive work or entrepreneurship within the penitentiary establishment, show good behavior and are those who are very interested in continue a task when leaving this premises, being an intentional and non-probabilistic sample. It was a research using a quantitative approach, with a positivist paradigm, with a deductive method. For the collection of information, the survey technique was considered in this study, and the closed questionnaire consisting of 22 questions was applied as an instrument. The results of this study confirmed that it is through productive work - in its form of entrepreneurship - that an effective and less traumatic social reintegration of the prisoner into society is achieved. Therefore, it was concluded that it is essential to encourage prisoners to carry out ventures, which will support them and their families, during and after their reintegration into society; and that through the formal education or training that they can receive, it will pave the way for them to not relapse into criminal activities.
