Abstract

Disruptive leadership is a type of leadership that focuses on innovation, which seeks to challenge the traditional, the goal of promoting a more creative and innovative thinking in business reality, which involves a radical change in the processes of the organization. It is characterized by causing commotion, resistance and push workers to a transformation, this leads to think that disruptive leaders must possess a series of soft and hard skills that will allow them to develop behaviors and experiences with which the disruptive leader achieves success in the dynamic business world. The objective of the research is to identify the soft and hard skills of disruptive leaders to face the new global challenges. This research is based on the theory of disruptive leadership from the perspective of authors such as Goleman (2006), Zapata (2024), López and Jaramillo (2024), among others. The methodological route applied was from a quantitative approach, with a descriptive scope of analysis, applied to a population of 100 teachers belonging to two universities. The results show that the disruptive leaders of these universities show soft skills such as empathy, collaboration and leadership skills, but to a lesser degree strategic thinking. As for the hard skills of the leaders, the ones they have developed to a lesser degree are the management of technological resources and the creation of creative projects; however, team management, oral expression and linguistic skills are the ones they have more developed. In conclusion, it could be affirmed that although the disruptive leaders of these universities possess a series of hard and soft skills, with which they can be identified as disruptive leaders, they must develop a group of these skills in order to cause the impact that this type of leadership can have.
