Visibility and Impact of the Scientific Production of the Francisco de Paula Santander University, for the period 2000 - 2019

One of the main indicators of scientific production at the national and international level is publications, since it allows the results of research carried out in entities linked to the science, technology and innovation system (STI) to be socialized in society. For Higher Education Institutions, it is relevant to know the visibility and impact of the research results generated by the reason for their investment in CTeI's activities through metric indicators that allow for a quantitative analysis of scientific production, the most representative trend themes and lines of research, international cooperation, scientific leadership, and the number of citations received. This will allow for a projection of the Regional positioning through the articulation with the productive sectors for the solution of their needs and challenges, as well as visibility in national and international rankings that evaluate the research process. The present article presents an analysis of the visibility and impact of the scientific production of the teachers of the Universidad Francisco de Paula Santander in the scopus databases during the period 2002 - 2019, through a quantitative research whose scope is a descriptive study, considering the studied phenomenon and its components, measuring concepts and defining variables, for the analysis of the scientific production, as an input tool for the decision making of the directives of the Institution and for the definition of strategies that promote the strengthening of the research groups and the institution.
