This study developed within the framework of business practice at the company Centrales Eléctricas de Norte de Santander - CENS, with the purpose of improving the conditions of the workers' work environment. Likewise, minimum knowledge was provided about the injuries and dangers to which workers are exposed during their activities and how to avoid or minimize them through joint action by the company and its employees. Therefore, this initiative began with the diagnosis of the current state of both the lighting system and the workplace, using the LEST methodology to determine the actions to take once the results are achieved. Then a proposal was made to optimize the lighting levels that adapted to the needs of each workplace, all in search of optimizing energy consumption and, as an added benefit, the reduction of CO2 emissions to the environment through a lower energy consumption. Additionally, a tool was created to determine the number and type of lights required for best performance and lowest risk. Finally, the economic viability of the proposal was determined, and it was found that each peso invested will generate a return of 4.65 pesos. This is related to the decrease in expenses and, more importantly, will contribute positively and beneficially to the environmental environment.
